Large aperture PPKTP for high energy optical parametric frequency conversion

KTP is considered to be one of the best materials for frequency conversion in the visible and near-infrared spectral regions because of its good mechanical and thermal properties, as well as a high nonlinearity and a high damage threshold. Consistent periodic poling of KTP over a crystal thickness of 5 mm can be achieved, making it a good material choice for 1-μm-pumped high energy and high average power QPM OPO or OPA applications. High quality PPKTA for frequency conversion in visible range

The major limitation for  power  scaling in  1-μm-pumped high-power CW QPM SHG schemes is due to the thermal  dephasing  attributed  to  linear  absorption  at  the  generated  visible  wavelength. KTA exhibits lower linear absorption in the visible spectral range compared to KTP, making it an excellent candidate for high-power QPM SHG devices. Read more…

Mirrorless optical parametric oscillator

Counter-propagating phase-matching schemes warrant intrinsically unique coherence, spectral, tuning and robustness properties to the parametric frequency conversion device. Contrary to birefringent phase matching QPM is very well suitable for realizing nonlinear interactions involving counter-propagating photons. KTP is an ideal material for fabrication of sub-μm periodic domain structures required for this purpose. Read more…
